The Harpswell Community Nursery School

Our Time for Twos class offers a unique opportunity for parents and children to explore together the wonder-filled world of the young child. This program provides a gentle structure within which children from age 2 up through young 3-year-olds can begin to experience group care and education with the security of a parent or other caregiver nearby.

Under the guidance of an experienced teacher, children will strengthen their relationships with other children, develop their ability to engage in and stay with a given task, and explore their creative impulses. The classes also aim to deepen understanding of the developmental stages of early childhood. Through exploration of natural materials, group musical experiences and simple art projects, parents have the opportunity to observe how the very young child constructs knowledge and skills in all areas of development: social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical-motor. In addition, the classes provide an opportunity for parents to come together in mutual support.

Time for Twos classes meet on Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m in the Fellowship Hall at the Elijah Kellogg Church. Each session costs $20. Families are asked to commit for a month at a time. The program follows the SAD#75 public school schedule in terms of holidays, vacations and school closures due to weather.

Time for Twos classes are small and are enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis. At least 5 children must be enrolled to run the Time for Twos program.
